Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Gould. Mrs. Dally Is New President, Baptist Group Mrs. W. H. Eaton was hostess to the Ladles' Auxiliary of the First Baptist church Tuesday, Sept. 8 at her home, 42 Rose avenue. The meeting opened with singing, "Some Day We'll Understand." Prayer by Mrs. Effle Dally. Scripture. Psalm 91, "Trust God more fully for the needed strength." Prayer, Mrs. Shaf fer. Song, "God Will Take Care of Thee." As it was the annual meeting, the retiring president expressed thanks to all who had co-operated with her and helped during tihe year. The annual reports of officers and com mittees were given. A recommenda tion waa made by Mrs. Dally that the year be changed to May l, instead or Oct. 1. E. O., which opens in Portland this week, are holding the interest of many Medford women this week. The four day conference will be at tended by quite a delegation from this city including Mesdames A. G. Bennett, J. G. Love, L. F. Pickett, C. W. McDonald. Joe Fliegel. W. E. Tumy, W. H Smith, R W Sleeter and E. A. Moore. The conference opens tomorrow and will continue through Thursday and will be attended by 2000 women delegates from all sections of the United States. There are 1500 chapters of P. E. O. In the United States, Canada and Hawaii. They include 50,000 mem bers. P. ff. O. was originally a college sorority, founded more than 60 years ago. In addition to the many activ ities carried on by the organization now a revolving educational loan fund of half a mllllo. dollars Is maintained. As much as $800 can be borrowed by . a student from this fund. The Medford chamber of commerce is sending to the convention some of the Rogue River valley's most choice pears for distribution among the delegates. Mrs. Stallsnilth Transfirred To Northern District Mrs. Anna Stallamith, who has been district deputy for Royal Neigh bors In this district for the past five years, has been transferred to the Portland district. She left Medford yesterday for Eugene, where she will make her home for the following year. Mrs. Broil of Ashland will succeed her in this district. Past Matrons Club Of C. P. Meets Sept. 16 After the vacation of two months the Past Matrons club of Nevlta chapter, No. 93, O. E. S., Central Point, will gather at the home of Mrs. Elsie Martin on the Midway road Wednesday. Sept. I6th at 1 o'clock for luncheon, which will be followed by a business meeting. It la hoped all members will be present. Mrs. Norcross and Son Return South Mrs. E. J. Norcross and son Junior are returning to Oakland, Calif., Sunday evening after visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Norcross at Central Point and her brother. The two comforters, started as a work project, were completed and will be sold. Plans for the next meet ing to be held the first Friday in October were made. Junior High Staff Reception Honors Members of the Junior high teach ing staff were welcomed Friday eve ning at a reception given by the Parent Teachers association of t he school. Supt. E. H. Hedrick gave the main address of the evening emphasizing the benefits of parent teacher work in connection with the conducting of schools. The program was opened by Mrs. Carl Grant, president, and the flag salute led by L. W. Marshall. Mrs. H. H. Powell carried on the member ship drive and a musical program was presented by Miss Margaret Arnold, soloist, and Mrs. Rawles Moore, pianist. Following the program, refresh ments were served by the committee composed of Mesdames O. O. Horner, J. S. Gill, V. D. Brophy and Lee Wil liams.
