Friday Evening
The engagement of Miss Itha
Heard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
C. C. Heard to Frederick Johnson,
Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. F. H.
Johnson was made known Friday
evening nt a dinner party, held at
the Blue. Flower lodge.
The table was beautifully decor
ated, the centerpiece, a bowl of
sweet peas, was surrounded by
miniature bride, groom and brides
maids. The color scheme was car
ried out In pink and white. A
corsage of pnnsies was placedj for
each guest. The table was set on
the lawn and the colored lights In
the trees made a beautiful setting
for the occasion.
Each guest pulled a pink and
white ribbon at the end, of which
was found a scroll announcing the
betrothal. The bride-elect found
the engagement ring at the end
of her streamer.
A three course dinner was
served, after which the guests
enjoyed a theater party at the Cra-
terian.
Miss Itha Heard graduated from
the Medford high school with the
class of '25, since that time she
has been secretary for the Oregon
Granite Co. Mr. Johnson graduat
ed from the Ashland high school
and attended Oregon State college.
He is now employed as salesman
for Montgomery Ward & Co. Both
are well known in southern Ore
gon. Guests for the dinner and the
atre party were Miss Ruth Meusel,
Mrs. Earl Miller, Mrs. Phil Louns

On Thursday the Garden club
will sponsor a showing of gladioli
on the spacious lawn of Mr. and
Mrs. W. J. Warner, 619 South
Onkdale. All gladiolus growers,
both amateur 'and professional are

blooms.
Flowers will be received between
8 and 0 o'clock In the morning.
Guests interested in viewing the
flowers may call anytime during
the day.
There are many gladiolus enthu
siasts in Medford who will have
beautiful new varieties on display
and this wilt be a good opportunity
