Ityrd stop in Medford Saturday for two lectures, the Medford American LeRion post also realized a profit as a result of his- visit, which demanded a cash guarantee of $12E10. The lectures and motion pictures of the south polar explorations attracted people from all parts of southern Oregon and some from northern Califor nia. The Byrd party left by airplane yesterday afternoon for San Fran cisco where the udmiral is to np pear tonight In a lecturo at the civic auditorium nnd is to make only one or two stops before reach Iiik Los AjikcIcs. Admiral Byrd was pleased with his stay In Medford and was grati fied that no special reception had been planned in his honor, giving him an opportunity to pain some much needed rest. The number of local residents who greeted him personally was limited. Upon the close of his lecture Saturday night. Admiral Byrd was given an honorary membership In the Oregon t a v e m e n of u ra n t s Pass and was presented the mem bership card by Neil Allen and James Bromley. The appearance of Admiral Byrd was made possible through the Medford post of the American Le gion as a part of Its community service program, giving Medford the distinction of being one of the three places In Oregon where the aviator-explorer slopped to lecture.
