The dunce was attended by members of all social groups of the city and was characterized by a bevy of lovely gowns and holi day decorations. - Several special features added interest to trfe dance program, music for which was furnished by Dom Provost's orchestra. Concluding the pro gram was a presentation of the "Turkey Skit," with Helen "Ed mlston and Cushte Wilson as the young recently married couple. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. Music wns furnished by LouIho Osenbrugge, Margaret Warner, Winifred ' War ner, Mary Chambers and Cushle, Wilson. The hall was decorated In festive Christmas spirit and a hazaar, rummage sale and candy booth wore operated. The customary purty for grade school children was1 held in tho nfternoon. A short program con sisting of musical numbers, tap dance by Jane Antle and rending by Mary Maxine Hngen was given nnd then Santa Claus arrived to to greet all tho children. Party Given In Honor nf Hlrthdayfi Mrs. Lura Emery and Mrs. Alice Lounsherry were honor guests on Wednesday - evening at a bridge party given by the Misses Ella Glover and Letha SUrkey, the occasion being In compliment to tho two; women's birthdays. Following bridge refreshments were served and a beautiful birth day cake presented the two honor guests. The. guest list Included: Fern llarbough, Jessie Gibbons, MrH. Ralph Jennings, Susie Mae Sholton, Queenle Alcock, Bonnie Holmes, Mildred Williams and Alice Lounsberry. Although the home holds a spec lat appeal during the Christmas season many Medford people will spend the holidays away from their own firesides. For there are other firesides, which are recalled when the fragrance of fir breathed on the street. And it will be Christmas In the city and Christmas on the sea as well as beside familiar chimneys. , Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Shockley left Thursday by motor for south ern California and Arizona. They -will spend three weeks vacation ing and will be Christmas guests of Mrs. Shockley's brother, Dr. II, A. Nelson, in Annaheim, Cal. t Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Carpenter are spending the holidays as guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Poor Children Will Receive Toys, Nurses I Enjoy Gala Evening A Christmas party wart enjoyed by members of the , Graduate Nurses association Monday night at the home of Mrs. C. W. Ash pole, who was assisted as hostess by Miss Thelma Kent. Following a short business ses sion, Santa Claus arrived and toys were removed from the tree, which will be given to the Red Cross to be distributed to poor children on Christmas eve. Games and stunts were enjoyed and refreshments served by the hostesses at the close of the evening. Mrs. Sprague Makes Official Visit P. E. O. ... Thompson. 4 Voss-Gchlinrtl W'cding Sunday " Miss Lucille Voss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Voss, was married to Harold Gebhard, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Gebhard. Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents on Jackson street. Rev. W. 11. Eaton of the First Bnptlut church performed the ceremony, which was followed by- supper served for the members of the immediate families. As a Joyful finale for the merry Christmas day, members of local society will meet at Oriental Gar dens for the annual Christmas ball of the Medford " Post, American Legion. Open House ; Mr. and Mrsl Corbln Edgell will i conduct open house Christmas day at four o'clock, at their home on Berkeley Wny, The 14th annual home-coming of the Rebekah lodge was held Monday evening, December 15th. Dinner was served at 6:00 o'clock to 120 guests. The lodge hall and tables were decorated In ever greens and laurel berries. After the regular lodge session a pro gram was presented including a solo played on the saw by Mr. Vimont, accompanied by MIkh Gonevleve Brown at the piano; vocal boIo by C. E. Meeker. A history of the first home coming held In 1917 was given by Mrs. Nellie Perl, who was noble grand of Gg !cdge at that time. Each noble grand who has had charge of a home-coming, re sponded with a resume of the event. The purpose and activities of the F. L. club of the lodge were ex plained by Mrs. Georgia Hess, past president of the club. - A lovely quilt made by the members of the club was exhibited. This quilt is to be sent to the I. O. O. F. home In Portland as a gift from the club. A clever play, entitled "Rag Carpet Bee" was presented by eight members of the Past Noble Ci rands club. Mrs. Minnie Bryant was chair man of the committee responsible for the success of the event. Colony Club Holds Regular Luncheon The members of the Colony club met at the club house Friday for their regular luncheon meeting. Several tables of bridge were en joyed following luncheon, at which Mrs. Sprague Hiegel, president.
