Such is the pic . jive of the now high school build ing which will he erected this winter and spring, na painted by Superintendent 13. H. Iledrick and Principal C. O. Smith, who have been working on the plans forsome time. Inside the $210,000 structure will Incorporate many of the latest Ideas in school aranjjement and equipment. Each room will be wired for radio, should the school adopt such a system. Two gymna siums, a larger one for scholastic games and a smaller for girls, will be on the ground floor. Includes Gridiron The football field will be directly behind the school and will have l;irgr bleachers and erandstartd than the present Van Scoyoc field. An auditorium which will wat 1200 person will be located on the wing opposite tho gymnasium. The general shape of tho school plant will be that of a letter "J." Other new features of the build ing, which will he ready for occu pancy in September, will be a puh jtfio speaking room with a small stage, Improved athletic dressing rooms for both home and visiting teams, lookers for students' books and coats set intal tb corridor walls instead of standing in the halls. These corridors will be three feet wider than those in the present high school, with a wider ramp or incline between floors. Vni-Vent Hewlthy The heating system operates In each room individually. It is known as the "uni-vent" 'system and works with a thermostat so that heat is turned on or off when the temperature reaches a certain point. Shop and agriculture classes will be housed in units of their own but connected with the main build ing. All laboratories, the library and such classes as bookkeeping, typing, shorthand and English will be handled on the second floor. The main gymnasium will be 100 feet by 100, with a playing space of aJiout 50 by AO feet and room to tear 1000 spectators. ' High school , games can be played' here instead of at the armory and will result in saving of considerable money spent each year for rental purposes. IN MO CRASH SUIT Charging that Chester A. Hub bard carelessly allowed his auto mobile to collide with one operated by Otto Koenig of Seattle April 3, 1930, Koenig filed Buit in federal court in Portland last Tuesday for damages under two causes of ac tion, one for $10,235 and and the other for $10,280. The complaint asserts that Koenig was perma nently Injured as a result of the crash. WASHINGTON, Dee. 19. (P) Acquisition of tho Gulf and West Texas rnilrond by the Southern Pacific was authorized today by the Interstate Commerce commis sion. The Southern PaciHc was au thorized to acquire the capital stock of the Gulf and West Texas and the latter was permitted to issue $300,000 of common stock with a pnr value of $100 a share to be used in constructing pro posed new line. NEW YORK.
