SATURDAY, rnrsT NO DEPRESSION IN N1EDF0RD SAYS WILLIAM' GATES "Buyers' week Is a Rood thing, for It serves to. make better re lationships; then If you have any kicks comins you know who to kick to," remarked V. Depressions may be in other par's of the Pacific Northwest, but It certainly hasn't come to Medford. There in a bumper pear crop this year. There will be approximately &000 cars of fruit shipped out, and the value will probably be more than the $5,000,000 received for the fruit crop last year. "Now, while the buyers for the canneries aren't purchasing or con tracting now for the pear crop, the growers aren't bothered they are not discouraged in the least. Why? The main reason w because they spent a lot of money in rad'o advertising in the eat to exploit the Hose pear, a kinft which is grown commercially no place in the world except near Medford. The Bosc market in the east h-ts improved so much for the large, long pear is primarily for sale on fruit stand; that they are looking to the buyers of the east, who are making contracts now. "Yes, sir, things are good In Medford. The mills are running, and all is in fine condition in gen eral." The Oregonian.
