' : Medford Will Celebrate ; ' TOMORROW : 1 The city council in. .lieetl -Uipt- protests, which have Ioijk heen made by residents in the neighbor hood of the dog hospital on Riv erside nt the north - end of the city, will probably pass an ordin ance in the way of providing some relief for the people of that sec tion, probably .to do away with the dog boarding house and .pound feature of the hospital.: City Attorney F ra n k P. Fa rre 1 1 is1 now engaged in drawing . up the ordinance, which will be pre sented to the council fgr action at its meeting next Tuesday night. :-t Although the residents of that section voted a change of.: .zone about two years ago to pmvide for the building of the ' dog hos pital by Dr. tftone in its present loQation, a few months after the establishment of the hospital com plaints began reaching the city. of ficials that the hospital was -a nuisance, as the burking of the dogs prevented them -'from sleep ing at night and was also itmerve wrecking niusance Sin daytime. Two weeks ago the ceomplatniug became more pronounced, 1 hence the preparing of the remedial ord inance. All efforts of the city, of ficials to amicably iron out- the feature complained of havu hith erto been unavailing. . . The complaining residents who did not enter objection before the hospital was builL say they un derstood that the institution would be- only for sick dogs, but that since its inauguration it has also been used as a boarding house for dogs when their owners leave the city, etc.. and also that it has long hopn used for the impounding of stray dugs gathered up by the dog catcher. The contents of the ordi nance are not known except that its provisions will tend to give the asked -tor alleged nuisance relief. The Humane society is building its new animal shelter headiiuart oi'H in the fairgrounds vicinity, which will not be ready for use for two months yet, and inquiry developed yesterday that the soci ety has expected to keep the im pounded dogs at the dog hospital until the new quarters are ready. The complaining citizens say that the lonesome boarding dogs, jwd.,;he. impounded stniy..jnea, (la most' of the barking and howling and not the sick dogs. The Rev.
