He was located at Burns, Ore., and ,his territory in cluded M.OOO square'miles, cover ing southeastern Oregn, northwest ern Nevada and northeastern Cali fornia. , Captain Applegate, head of the Association of Indian War Veter ans, is best known as chief of scouts m the Modoc war. Plans for the Sinnott Memorial Muhpuhi to be built In Crater Lake National park are Hearing completion. The museum will be similar In construction to tho Yavapai Lookout Museum at the Grand Canyon, ami no effort will be spared to make the build ing one that will fit into Its natural surroundings. Victor Hock, on which the build ing will bo located. Is one of the finest observation points along the Rim from which to view the lak. tho Rim, and surrounding moun tains. The front, or parapet of the museum will be so built as to ap pear a continuation of the rock ledge. Tho exhibition room will be 21 by 43 feet. On the front of this, overlooking the lake, will be an observation platform 22 by 40 feet. H is planned to place telescopes on this platform, to point out the important features oi the rim and surrounding count ry as well us the prominent mountain peaks; and there will be additional point ers of the tube variety.
