RSir f f STJB THREB PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD CLOSES FINE MEETING i Session Next Year Goes to Oregon State College Albany College Report Gratifying. (By J. W. Angell) EUGENE, Ore., July 26. (Spe cial) By speeding up a little the Presbyteriun Synod of Oregon was able to close a day earlier than at first expected, and Wednesday .,, .he ln.( of the ileleentea lonv- I ing for home, after what was folt I ... . . .. I by many to be the best meeting of console, in Hie evening tne i-res-the Bynod for years Ihyierian church unites with other Next year it will he held in July ! churches in the city for union ser at Corvallis. the synod voting to vices to be held this week at the accept the invitation of the Ore gon State college tnrotign i-resi-tlent Kerr to meet there. Hoth the - university at .Eugene and Albany college also extended Invitations, but Corvallis was chos en as the synod had not met there for some years. College Favored Many felt that usually the meet ing should be at Albany college, as! that is the Presbyterian college In Oregon, and there may be an ef fort made next year to so arrange, ns the college and the city of Al bany would be very glad to have tlone. The report on Monday of Albany college to the synod was very gratifying, showing the largest col lege enrollment and the largest graduating class In the history of the institution. Build New Gym The college Is now letting the contract for a fine new gymnasi um to cost $10,000 or more, und expects also to begin this year the construction of a new woman's building costing considerably more. The faculty is being constantly im proved and the college rapidly ad vancing in every way. Monday and Tuesday were "edu cation days" at the synod, Tues day being given over largely to consideration of tlio work of the Bynod, through its "Westminster Foundation" at Eugene and Corval lis, among the 1500 Presbyterian students attending the university and the stnte college. Student Pastors Aid This is done through the two student pastors, .1. Maxwell Adams and Monroe O. Everett, employed by the synod and local churches. Hoth in Eugene and Corvallis the foundation (backed by business and professional men of Portland and the state of Orego"n has been able to provide fine homes for these pastors, which are constructed to serve also and principally as stu dent renters. Here many social gatherings and meetings and study classes are held through the col lege year, reaching a large number of the students In a most enjoy able und helpful way.
