Judge and .Mrs. Glenn O. Taylor
and Ihe lmrents of Mrs. Taylor,
Mr. mid Jlrs. E. W. L. Carkln, ar
lived home lam evening from: their
lone- auto trip of nhoul frvs' weeks
to Minnesota. Saskatchewan, Can
ada, North Dakota and other points,
during which they covered 5SuO
miles.
The trip was a delightful' one
and, despite his SO years, Mr.-Car-kin
Flood it best of the quartet,
and Mrs. Carkin, 75. was next in
taking a very keen delight. Dur
ing the journey they encountered
quite warm and some cold weather
at times. '
.Much of the time was spent In
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Carkin's for
mer home, Hlllshoro, and Judge
Taylor's former home in (Inlnd
Korks county. North Dakota, which
Id had not visited for TI years. On
tie return trip to Medford they,
sjent a day and a half in Yellow
stone national park and came via
the" Hf,Kenzie pass from central
Oregon.' ...
Judge T'lor took particular In
terest in visiting Grand Forks and
vicinity, andi his alma mater, (he
University ol North Dakota, which
,is also the ajma mater of John II.
Carkln, mucl of the grounds for
which Institution were the gift of
Bill Budge, the well known Med
ford orcrardist, and former state
Republican leader and otherwise
prominent citizen of North Dakota,
uiUil he located in Medford.
The judge today declared with
ottc any equivocation that the I'ni
veisiiy of North Dalvna is the
most beautiful and best laid out. ex
cept possibly the University of
Washington, In western territory.
The party stayed a little longer
than originally intenued as the
judge says that on account of the
advanced age of Mr. and Mrs. Car
kln he didn't desire to drive very j
fast. Then, too. while he did not j
not say so, he disliked to siieed in ,
a foreign state, as a news account j
of a pinch on that charge along the ;
route would look bad In home news
