A hearing was under way today
at Butte Falls, before the school

contracts made with six teachers
by the old school hoard, and df-j

the school controversy that h.vs
engaged the district for the past
four years.
The main fcts in tho present
case are:
The old school board, of which
Mrs. Elizabeth Simmervllle was a
member, negotiated contracts witn
the teachers, at the salary rato In
forco. before It wf.s reduced t.

con n ly bou ndary boa rd.
Mrs. Elizabeth Simmervllle was
afterwards ousted as a member
the school board, on the grounds
that she was an absentee director,
maintaining a residence nt Eu
gene. After her place was declar
ed vacant by the county school
superintendent, Mrs. Julia Dnublo.
day was named to fill the place.
The new hoard then invalidated
the contracts, the action being cop
tested hy six teachers, who hold
they are legal and valid.
The school board is represente I

the teachers by Attorney Goorge
