It was; rumored that these two Southern Oregon companies wero to lie sent to this eastern regiment and so the camp established just west o. Phoenix was named Camp linker. Kaon with a brother already -in this camp, Judge William Colvig and his cousin, A. M. Woodford. our former postmaster, rode their horses from Jacksonville the morn ing of April 5. 1R(!3. r.nd ehllstol at Camp Uakor. These men wee all doomed to disappointment, for the regular soldiers were sent, eart and the new company kept here for Indian service. Three months after he hail enlisted, Judge Colvig was sent to Fort Klamath and It was not until last Tuesday morning, June in. 11130. Hint ho returned to the .scene of these long-ago day.'. Andrew Calhoun, was found to be very en thusiastic over the erecting of a permanent marker ia this point on the Calhoun road. Crater Lake Chapter P. A. Tl. hopes to do this at an early date but for the present have placed ' temporary marker nt this point.
