The area wown to winter wheat laat fall was 43,434,000 acres, of which 11.0 per cent was aban doned to May 1, leaving 3ti,G5C,00U acres for harvest, compared with 42.820,000 acres sown in the fall of l'J28, 6.4 per cent abandoned to May 1. and 40,102,000 acres har vested last year. The condition of winter wheat on May 1 was 76.7 per cent of a normal, compared with 83.6 last year and S3. 8 the 10-year May 1 average. WASHINGTON, May 10.
