presented was cheaper, with short
er pipeline, than the Big Butte
creek ; project later successfully
completed by Medford. It has irri
gation possibtltlcs which might well
be investigated by Illinois valley
landowners.
For the city would use the flow
ing water of Greyback creek, keep
ing the stored water In the reser
voir for irrigation use.
By cooperation of Illinois valley
farmers the cost of such a project
to the city could be materially re
duced, and Irrigation water in turn
bo mndo available in a storage
system1 at a great saving to the
area of good land In the Illinois
valley on both sides of Kerby and
extending to Holland and tho Tak-
llma coilntry.
Irrigation water now available In
the Illinois valley Is being used to
tho limit, and much land Is entirely
without It,
Storage Is necessary If lrrlga
tlon' Is to expand over the area
which Is good land, but now ' In
brush and timber.'
Here Is a chance for a storage
system, at a great saving
Point is given to consideration
of the project by the road contro
versy which is claiming the atten
tion of Grants Pass and Medford
people.
Medford fears this city's water
plans may interfere with Medford's
attompt to push a road through
this county to tho hurt of this city.
If Medford not only tries to med
dle with this county's road policies
but also attempts to' defeat Grants
Pass water plans, tho height of
impudence will have been reached.
