The $800 shortage in the accounts
of S. G. Hcrlinger, clerk In the
water bureau, discovered Tuesday,
grew to $700 today with the com
pletion by Georgo lllack, account
ant of a chock back to 1924 of
Herllnger's books.
Exanilimtlou of the books Is now
to ho carried back to 1919, when
irerlinger entered tho employ of
the city.
Officials of tho water bureau
said Herllnger's fiOOD bond, re-,
newed each year, would be ample
to insure tho city against loss.
