Distorted Evidence No amount of statistical evidence, distorted in an effort to mi -lend the public, can disprove government figures showing the gain of Lucky Strike to be greater than the combined increase of all other cigarettes. The public will be served and this is proof, indeed, that regardless of price, you actually get more in Lucky Strike than any other cigarette can offer. Its perfect blend of line tobaccos gives pure smoking delight. lis exclusive, secret toasting process guar antees the tobaccos free from irritants and impurities and, in the opinion of 20,679 4& physicians, makes Lucky Strike less irritat ing than other cigarettes. IN i t Anderson, chairman of the growers ciunmitlee. was instructed I" prepare a statement defining (he standard pack, and after it has been approved will be published. The preparation of the statement is expected to take a week, and it will explain the charges fully. Packing houses of the valley this season will use the three-way and four-way corduroy pack, gen erally, as a protect ive measure against .shock and bruises. The pack also includes an cxccUior board on lop. ami beveled ends as further protection. Some of the packers will use curtains on their pack. Many of the shippers hold to the belief that in order to maintain the present superiority of Med foul pears in eastern markets, an at tractive pack Is paramount, and all agree that the KHx'w shipments this year will be more pleasing lo the eye than ever before In the history nf the industry. Many of the friill wraps of individual grow-ot-s. will be works of art. On each box will be printed the word "Med ford." and in smaller type will be the words, Oregon, V. S. A." to comply with the liritish Import shipment act. The word "Med ford" is emblazoned on the boxes, in accordance with the re cent advice of eastern fruit dis tributors that the trade knew the fruit only as Medt'ord. not South ern oreim or Itogue Jtiver val ley pears. Three usually brave girls In town are the Misses Kva Nealon, Margaret llensley and Helen Greg ory who last Sunday hiked over mountainous and rocky country in the Klk Creek section. As far ns flowers were concerned, however, the trip was a failure. lint the outing hnd been an en joyable success until on their way home ns they were crossing thru a field a friendly but lonesome muley cow chased the girls Into the top of a handy tree, from which they were rescued by a returning fisnerman.
