LEGAL BATTLE

LUUII1IMU UILII
iiiinnn nllinr:
MINUAIU UARUtl
A big legal battle is looming and
possibly next week may reach its
height as a result of a dance to be
held this evening at Oold Hill,
which hus been announced to con
tinue until 2 o'clock tomorrow
morning, on the gfjunds (if suffi
cient population to place (lold Hill
beyond the Jurisdiction jif the
county sheriff in the regulation of
dance pavilions, as defined in a
recent law passed by the state
legislature.
The law declares towns of fiOO
population and under fall directly
under the jurisdiction of the sher
iff and county court In the issu
ance of dance licenses. However,
In places of more population, the
right to issue licenses Is vested
with the city government Itself,
Luke Kincaid, proprietor of the
Cold Hill pavilion, declares the
town has ?2D bona fide residents.
However, the claim Is regarded
as inaccurate by the sheriff's
office, which contends the Uii.'0
United States government census
supplies the only true record of
population. If the latter claim is
sustained in court, Ootd Hill will
have a population of only a few
more than 4yu, taking away he
power from the city to regulate
Its dances. It Is likely tonight's
dance will he visited by officers
and it Is possible the proprietor
may be arrested either tonight or
next week to test the strength of
Ihe law nnd to determine (loll
Hill's accurate population?

SPRAY your trees with Orthol-K or Volck and lead in combination.
The oil spray kills the crks and the lead kills the worms. This
double protection means cleaner trees, more "Extra Fancy", and in
creased profits.
These sprays have been usetl on extensive acreage for several successive
seasons and are the proven oil sprays for codling moth control.
Orthol-K and Volck are made from special oils of very high refinement
and of exactly the right viscosity to give effective control at low dosages
(without interfering with the normal functioning of the trees).
Also control summer scale, red spider, bud mite, rust mite, leaf hopper
and aphis in the same application. Ask for our complete Orchard Spray
and Pest Control Program for the Northwest. CALIFORNIA SPRAY
