((Special.) n making an estimate of the damage done by the frcwt of last Monday night, orchardists who did not smudge report a heavy loan of Bartlett pears. The late pears and apples vere damaged some, but will still provide plenty of com mercial fruit. Some oC. the home orchards of stone fruits and early apples are reported to be entirely killed. Early gardens were also Injured considerably in spots, some hearty stuff .being killed, .while other tender growth in the same garden escaped damage entirely. IS. U; Day is having some re modeling done on his dwelling house by enlarging the upper story ind re-roofing the building. Light smudging has .been done in many of the orchards for sev eral days after the big frost, to protect the Bartlett pears, which are at a stage where even a light freeze may damage them. Two very one-sided baseball games were played at the local diamond last week, the first being - a Rftme with the Butte Fall high schools boys and ours,, which re sulted in a victory for our team by 11 to I last Wednesday. The second game was played Thursday against the Gold Hill nine and the Knms Valley boys were badly de feated, the score being 18 to : Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McDonough vielted their daughter, Miss Naomi .
