The Jackson County Pomona Grange hold Its regular quarterly business session at Jacksonville on Saturday, April 27,' with Jack sonville Grange as hosts. The morning session reports of subordinate Granges showed the subordinates all to be In flourish ing condition, with a steady gain of members nnd many worth-while projects being put over. The Grange membership in Jnrkson is now- nearing the thousnnd mark. Rut tho Grange will not rest con tent until ever) farmer In the county Is numbered as one of thorn. Tho number of Grange Insur ance policies Issued Is gaining and all Granges nre looking to a largo increaso in tho number of policies written Tho farmers are beginning to realize tho value of tho Grunge movement, and- masters report that they no longer need to urge the Grange, but are now request iirg to be permitted to join. H. K. Xealon reported for i special marketing committee ap pointed at the Inst special meeting. Reports .that reply seems favor able, but a meeting would bo hold on this and definite Infor mation would then be had. Some time ago the question Vame up In Grange aa to the feasi bility of having tho Pomona Grange meet in a centralized lo cation. Tho Grange nt this ses sion voted to Indefinitely poMpono tho question, believing that H was to tho interest of tho Pomona Grango to follow it's present Method of meeting with tho va rious subordinate Granges. Also that the present plan Is a great stimulus to subordinate Granges. Tho next regulur meeting of the Pomona will be h eld at J togue JHvor with thn jjvo Oak Orange as host. It will bo an all day ses sion, with an evening session for degrco work. This moeling wil bo on tho last Saturday of July. A special session was called for ' Saturday evening, May 35, at S p. in., to bo held nt Central polut. A resolution requesting county court to place signs at all inter sections and. name nil county roads (where same. has. not already been done) was passed, v, f i A resolution opposing raise of salaries of officers, during term of said officers, as said . officers knew what the salary of offlco was before elected. Carried A resolution requesting county court to make all possible hasto In settlement with farmers, ac cording to a; legislative act, which, rebates to farmers of Jackson county 25 per. cent of all taxes paid on tillable land In year 'of 1924 was carried. This has now. been pending for four years and the grange feels that It Is time to take some action to. get results. H. W. Sparks and wife wore elected ns Pomona delegates to state Grange. Paul McKlnnis was elected as alternate. A rousing vole of thanks was tendered for their splendid hospl tulity. The evening session was glvon over to degree work. The fifth degree was conferred on CB 'candi dates. ' This degree work is very beau tiful nnd the toam was hlghly commended for the Impressive manner in which It wus conferred. Especial mention should be made of the tableau and stnge ork In charge of Hessle Frcden berg and Paul McKlnnis; of the Impressive manner in which the officers delivered the lectures, tho perfect drill work. The work was In charge of Ted Seaman of lSuglc Point. than half that charged by retail merchants. A few literary numbers were enjoyed by all. "Sonny Roy," sung by Floyd Charley, was es pecially well received. . By special request Mr. Charley supervisors joined m a : nappy evening or iuu at tne noma of Miss Hiauchc Hicks on Vista street. Mr. nogers was recently married to Miss Baxter, a teacher in the Albany schools. The evening wus. uevoieu to games and contests of various sorts in which Miss Emma Maloney was- declared tho ' winner and was presented with a vase of lovely spring flowers; Mr.,' Rogers was presontea witu a handsome silver tray.
