Smith, local rancher, protested tho present dog license law as a means of double taxation. He declared the dogs on his ranch are assessed for general taxes and the'purchase of lircnses Is nothing else than the payment of double tuxes. Nearly !'0 licenses were is sued yesterday, bringing the total close to 500, and leaving nearly 5000 unlicensed dogs yet in the county. An added two dollar pen alty will go Into effect April 15.
