Vniontown had a sawmill and a few buildings which were destroy ed at the time the settlers were killed, and the camp never was re built. Thu sile of this old town is hut a few miles from Scoutcamp. The scouts this summer will huvo an opportunity ' to take the old Cook and Green trail past a Rood many deserted prospestoiM cabins and old divings; will have an op portunity to reconstruct and re live the days of the gold rush goiiiK from their camp to Cook and CJreen pass, along the Siskiyou di vide to Windy peak and to the Gold Led ire mine. Wind y pea k llikout will be visited and ills'! ruc tions given in locating fires: from there a number of mountain peaks, old gold camps and historical land marks will be sighted, located and checked on tho mirp. 1 Kn route they will see some , splendid speci mens of the weeping spruce, niac nab cypress, and will have a chnnco to collect some very good speci mens "for their botany and forestry tents. ,; Those scouts interested in birds will find in the higher country n number of new birds that do not nest in the valleys and aro not seen by the ordinary camper or tourist. Coming down 'from the Blue 'Ledge mine they will pass a whole series of mines, formerly producers, on Joe creek ami Elliott creek. This trip will he of several days' duration mid each duy will huvo new sights, new scenes and new work; the base being Camp Apple iralo. The HI-Y, a recently organized club in the high school, will give one of the best programs of the evening. It will consist of tho following: Chorus girls, (which includes some of the most promi nent members of the student body): three boxing matches and a negro dialogue by Stan Wilcox and iilll Ityrum. Merland Tollef son, well known soloist, will ren der a number of popular selec tions. The admission to this at traction is only It) cents, or two little green tickets. ' ' Another distinction of this car nival Is the' hour or more of free dancing, with music furnished by the. popular high school dance or chestra. All of theso traits and oddities are not for tho high school group alone, but all of tho townspeople will be su to to find a number of things to their interest, besides the local grade school pupils.
