I A complete program, with tho vnrious numhcin significant of tho pear industry in nil its stains, ; has been worked out by Miss liar- j rigor, ns well as the musical ac- j cornpanimcnts, for bath group acts; and solo presentations. ' , LGATHE A pear festival, Interpreting the lfW Industry, in songs, dances, pantomimes and music, to he en- acted by children from . the va- rious city schooin in some appro-! priate outdoor location, is tho plan which Miss Maud Hai-rigor, i physUal education Instructor, will ( carry out in Medford this year,: in place of the regular May f es-. lival. Uecause of the local appeal, and ; the outside publlcliy such an en- j tcrtainment project would attract i to Medford and the ltoguc Klveri valley, the school board mny pre-1 pent the plan before tho chamber i of commerce and other civic or-j ganizations, whoso oo-operntion will be enlisted In Its support. As rose festivals, cherry, straw- i berry '. and other carnivals repre- j pent certain - well known commu nities, a pear festival is thought j by local officials to express Med-j ford and southern Oregon more 'The Michigan Kid" Showing at Rialto VETERAN OF M TRIES NEW BREED ''.,.. v. j .i,f The most spectacular forest fire scenes ever filmed for.u motion pic ture appear In natural colors in the stupendous production of Ilex Reach's novel, "The Michigan Kid," which will have its local premiere at the llialto' theaier tooay with Henee Adoreo nnd C'onrnd Nagel in the stellar roles. An actual forest fire raging in the mountains furnished the back ground for these exciting scenes. The surroundings are unusually beautiful, with a river running through the forest, a large falls and massive. pine trees flanking the stream. Done in natural colors, these scenes showing tho leading characters escaping down tho ril'er in n? canoe between banks of burn ing trees and finally going over the falls, are especially realistic and terrifying. : DEnHY.
