dally food. So if one does develop
anemia, a weakening of the
strength ot tho blood, it Ls pretty
certainly not from lack of iron. It
follows, then, that oner can scarcely
hope to remedy ' the trouble by
pouring In more iron, in medicinal ,
or food' form. That Is the orin-'
scrt that Iron is worthless as
remedy for anemia.
Of course I am aware that Jhis
In almost heresy, but I have
fear that any physician can 'suc
cessfully controvert the belief I ex
press. Formerly I myself .earncxt
ly believed that certain medicinal
preparations of Iron, properly made
ind administered, were almost a
specific cure for a certain type of
anemia, und X ho practiced. But
I um pretty sure I was wrong about
that, nnd I am equally confident
hat the physicians who still, har
bor such belief are wrong, too.
Dut' I can't prove It Is wrong. You
can't prove a negative. - I only
know that the particular "type of
anemia for which I once believed
Iron a specific cure will respond
Just as quickly to treatment without
any Iron at all. So that War it
for me. If your doctor says you
should take Iron, take it. I should
If my doctor ordered it.: I'd ,uven
take n beaker of castor oil if my
doctor said I must. Why have n
doctor nt all, if you nro going to
et your own Judgment, or any
