PAGE FOUR Production of the new Kord re cently reached the first million when Model A engine No. l.Oon.. 000 came off the assembly line In the motors building at. the Rouse plant of the Ford Motor company. The occasion was marked by the gathering of official of the com pany who havfl been active In the production of the new car since Ha i Inception. On October SO. lit). Henry Ford r.tamped the flRiire. 1 cn tho first Model A motor to be assembled, and building of the new engine was under way.. It was slow at first, hut Ford co-ordination of men, ma terials and machinery soon sent the output to higher loel. until it has now reached the total of a million new automOlve power units, a remarkable achievement for the Industry. The history of the Ford Motor company presents a striking con trast between this production rec ord and that when tho old Model T was introduced. It required seven years and two months to produce the first million' Model T motors, while tho first million Model A enineswcre made In slightly over fifteen months. :, It was on October 1, 11108 that the first million mark was obtain ed. From then on production grew rapidly, until In 1927 when tho fif teen millionth car was built, the company had facilities for. produc ing two million Model T cars and trucks a year. Then camo tho de cision to build a new car. Manu facture or tho Model T, except for service partn, ceased.' The new Model A car was developed.
