A delicious lunch of J co cream and cake was served about midnight, after which the (party broke up. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Proctor, who have spent the last four or five years in Talent and Ashland, mov ed (Saturday to Koseburg where Mr. Proctor is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Klmer Kincaid and daughter Charlene were shopping in Mcdford Saturday. - The Woman's Homo Missionary society met Thursday at the home of Mrs. t. O. Hurley. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Skeeters and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Skeeters were guests at the home of Mr. nnd Mrs. Charley Skeeters Sunday. -The Talent Community club met Wednesday afternoon at the com .munity hall, with a good attend ance. Various topics of Interest were presented to the membership for discussion. Reports of commit tees showing renewed Interest in club work. The club will give a St. Valentine party next Thursday, February 14th. This party will be for the community at large and will be free, with games and other umtiHcments. There will be a charge made for the supper. On Thursday,- February 2Slh, Mrs. Mack, county home demon- satdon agent, will meet with the Community club at a special meet ing In the afternoon, and arrange for a" course' In home economics to be held in Talent. This school will be for the benefit of every woman in the community, and an urgent request Is expressed for everyone who would ho interested to. be present at that time. The club I adopted as their motto the phrase. "Community service for the good of all." A short program was then put on by the program com mittee, consisting of a reading by Mrs. Long on the French national anthem, the "Marseillaise." At 1ho close of the meeting a dellcioun ' lunch was served by the chairman I of tho social committee, Mrs. 'Ed Koblson, ussisted by Mrs. Hoy le- Vandcr. Several new ' members were taken In at this time.' Mrs. Ifyrpn Keith, .. Mrs., W. Xcwhouse I and Mrs. Ormy Toddard. Bill Fox and Tom Lamb have started hauling gravel with tho i county truck, and are fixing" the road In the Wagner Creek district. The basketball game played Monday evening between tho Ja ck sonville teams and tho Talent teams resulted in a, victory for the Talent boys by a score of 37 to 24, and a victory for tho Jack sonville girls by a score of t!7 to St. Tho game was played at Tal ent. , Mr. and Mrs. W. Tho Eagle Point Irri gation district is nearly teugh cleaning the lateral system, leav ing only the main canal - to be cleaned and U is in vory good shape due to the fact that there has not baen any long heavy rains. Tho district is working a crew of fifteen men and will start on the main canal In about two weeks. - It. T. Seaman, manager of the district, says they always have an abundance of water and will de liver water to about 4,000 acres for 1329 in place of 3200 last year and 26J the year before, showing a steady increase in the land be ing farmed. It is plain to be seen that only water can produce the largo crops that tho farmers with irrigated land produce. R. A.
