The thirteenth biennial report of the Oregon State Hoard of Health has just been published and shows that there has been a great in rrease in public health work in -this state. The financial report shows that the work has been done on a five centH per capita appropriation. Oregon's appropriation is much less than the majority of tho states. Health authorities consider that ten cents per capita is tho mini mum amount to provide adequate funds for the efficient administra tion of modern methods of dis ease prevention. . A survey made by the Interna tional Health Hoard or lloekefel ler Foundation, of all of the states contains the following criticism of Oregon: "The (Oregon ) State Hoard of Health is giving the max imum .service that a five cents per capita appropriation will permit." The activities of the board are conducted through six divisions: The division of Administration and Communicable Diseases has j concentrated its effort toward the eradication of dlptheria. The suc ces of this work is shown by the following figures: 192 S. 13T0 cases. 101 deaths; ISST, CO'.l cases, d aths. r.s The hearing In the matter of the ,..,!,, ,t, ni.,,ninOiwint f ;i I 1 ' . ... . l!t guardian for W.
