However, at litst night's council meeting it developed that there was opposition from some prop erty owners on the south side of West Main street, which was brought out hy Mrs. John K. Crib ble, who owns the duplex house of the Spanish court on South Xewtown, next to Main street, and Mrs. Kyle, who owns three of the other duplex houses of Spanish court, who were present at the meeting, and declared opposition of themselves and some of the other property owners in the territory to j being included In the business dls- ; trlct. Mrs. Gribble, who acted us spokesman, declared that they j were In Ignorance of the proposl- j tion to extend the district ns far' west as Orange street, until the j past few days, and that such a ; contemplated change had not been j posted, as required by law. j It was explained to them that j this came about when at ihe re- cent hearing before the com mis- j sion on the proposed change of zone for a service station, a num.- : bcr of property owners were pres ent and declared that they would ! oppose the proposed zone , thange unless it included their; own and the other properties on , Sixth and Main streets.
