Ashland, (Irants Pass and Hogue Hiver attended the annual Yeoman picnic here Sunday. In the morning there was a program in the pnrk followed by initiation exercises in the rtymnasium. At noon lunches were spread In the pnrk and the lodge furnished free cof'jj-e, sugar, cream and ice cream. In the afternoon races were run and games were played. One of the favorite games seemed to bo horse shoes. At all times during the day there was u crowd ewimining In the school tank. Wo enjoyed Ify ing Pte Yeomen as our guests and hope that another year will see them here a-'juin. Mr. and Mrs. tiillis Courtright ami children left Krliluy night lor n visit with relatives in Crescent (Jily while Mr. Courtright is con valescing from a tonsil operation. ' The Short and Curry families fiml their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Nugent, and Miss Kleanor Curry spent Sunday nicnlckiiig on Rogue river. Mr. anil .Mrs. Mark Huker re turned Sunday evening from Sa lem, where they were seeking medi cal aid for Mr. Huker. M. Hvanoff has bought the four Carter houses near the depot. Mrs. David Wolcott, who has been Tinitlng here with her granddaugh ter, Mrs. Raymond I'arker, ami family, left Saturday ulternoon for her home In Portland. Special music at church Sunday night concluded solos by Mr. and Mrs. Nee and Miss Curry. Miss Curry, who has been visiting rela tives here, left Monday for Ash land, where she will attend sum mer school at the Ashland normal. Mrs. Until Mitchell returned Sun day evening from Marshfleld, where . she has been visiting with relatives ulnee school closed. She will be r student at the Ashland normal school during the 12 weeks' term offered there. ' ' N. 11. Stoddard and Harry Mills Hent the week end In Crescent City. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Welsh of Ash land spent the week end visiting relatives here. Klgle Abbott, who has been work ing at a sawmill on (Iroensprlng mountain, spent Sunday visiting relatives and friends here. Tho Charlie Patlon and Harold Pntton families, who have been camping near Camp 1, are spending a few days In town. Misses Nila Corum and Gladys Tun-;ate, who have been working In the valley, spent Sunday visit ing friends here. Mrs. Rhea Hoover spent Monday shopping in Medford. She will leave Monday Tor San Jose, Cal.. where she will attend summer schol. She will also visit with rela tives in Oakland and Palo Alto.' The swimming tank is the most popular -plnce n town these days. A class is held at '2:30 every day for beginners, and adults can swim at any hour. A dozen suits have been purchasertkby the school nncl are for rent at 25 cents each to those who wisli them. There is no charge for those who bring their own suits. Mr. nnd Mrs. Honnor, merchants at Wlmer, were visiting here Sun- Mrs. Frank Hoover left Tuesday for Ashland, whero she will attend the summer school at tho normal. Robert Hoover will attend the train ing school there. Mr. and Mrs. TOrnest Batty of West Fir, Ore., are visit In-; rela tives and friends here this week. Mro. Hatty was formerly Honita Fox and is well known here. The Owen-Oregon team won the ball game played here Sunday with the Hutle Falls town team. Mrs. W. R. Parker entertained with a tea Friday afternoon for her grandmother. Mrs. David V. Wnlcott, of Portland, who visited Mrs. Parker during the last week on her way home from a tour of southern California. The ten table, at which Mrs. Clyde Smith poured and Mrs. Kugene Richmond served, was attiactive with ropes and can dle light. About thirty guests at tended during the afternoon. H. H. Fox and T.
