The above picture shows one of the huge Ryan monoplanes wh'un
will be used in the new Washington-Oregon passenger and exprest
service, connecting Yakima and Portland. The planes are luxuriously
upholstered , four-passenger ships. On the left is Tex Rankin, chief
pilot and head of the Rankin Flying service which Is operating the
line. On the right Is Mrs. Margaret Porter, pioneer of Yakima, who
made the trip on the opening day.

Inland territory of Wellington with
the Oregon seaport. A regular two
hour service will operate between
the two cities. Two new Ryan
cabin planes will he used on the
run, whirh Is operated by the
Rankin Flying Service of Portland.
The huge monoplanes, under tho
personal pupervinion of Tex Ran
kin, the Northwest's leading avia
tor, wilt fly up the Columbia Gorge
to Cascade Locks and then by
Afreet line to Yakima. The whole
trip takes lens than two hours,
where tho other moans of trans
portation takes five times thaHnng.
The planes are capable of a cruis
ing spoed of 120 mites an hour.
The ships wjll leave Yakima and
Portland at 7 o'clock In the morn
ing and will arrive fdtnttllaneouslv
In Portland and Yakima at 0 o'clock
the same morning, passing oti jh
way. The return trips of the two
planes will he made lit 'A o'c-lot k.
arriving at their original starting
points at 5 o'clock, ullowing a six
hour stopover in the biiblnestf

seats and long glass panels through
