Amid boisterous ' marrlment and snappy exchange of wit and satire, H12 Californlans and tho Medford excursionists further cemented the economic and social friendship of two great sections, di-, vlde4 only by the SisKiyous ana an imaginary border line, u It was a big night and, from the minute the Craters lft their pri vate -ir at Dunsmuir and were' whiku to Castle Crags till they returned to their car In "the early j bourn," there was no let-up In the ' merriment It was a Joyous, noisy j gathering with rapid-fire entertain ment throughout the evening, In cluding music and vaudeville stunts. '. Vem Vawter, tig Eruption of the Craters, was toastmaster ex traordinary and emphasized the far reaching .advantages of occasional Social visits similar-to Saturday's affair. The fact that lnter-ser-tloual contacts, in a social way. are essential to mutual understanding and successful business relation, was stressed by Mr. Vawter. Henry McClulness, of the Lions club of Duiinmiilr, replied to this opening address and formally welcomed the visitors from Modford. During tho dlnnor served prominent Cnllfor Elans and Craters were called upon .Including District Attorney John ion of Hlsklyou county; Captain Stove Kent, of the Dunsmuir traf fic squad; Bill Welch, commander of the American legion post in that city, and Dr. Edwards of San Francisco. Several well known Hls klyou and Shasta county .ita were On hand for the banquet, among them being Dr. Evans, Kerb. Ed monds.' Dr. Mnlone, Ted Hawkins, John- Voung, Elmer Jenks, Dr. Pickle, 0. A. Hutaff and Dr. Cor nish, mayor of DunHmulr and pres ident of the Lions club of that city. Followlnit the banquet, an enter tainment laxtlnir two hours was held In the lobby of the Castle Crags hotel. Lindbergh and Major Thomas G. Lanphier, commandant at Sclfridge Field, Micb Igan, arc said to be planning a flight across tho Atlantic ocean in June in a Ford tri-motored plane for the purpose of charting a course for future transatlantic air service. Plans are reported to call for tops at Labrador, Greenland and Iceland en route to Croydon Field, England, followed by a tour at '-. European and Asiatic countries, including Russia.
