There is undoubtedly a great fu ture In store for this committee, If it functions along proper lines. It. has broadened the scope of your chamber of commerce and brought It In contact with the elements of prosperity in the Uogue Uiver val ley, t'ndoubledty. HtUH will see o great deal of good accompnuneu have. Among the more Important needs Is the necessity for canning facilities for n portion or the fruit crop. During the past year two or ganizations have invest igat ed this district with the Idea of etsablish Ing a cannery here, and in lint h cases it has been found that it will bo necessary to further develop nn acreage of smaller fruits. herrlcM, etc., In order t hat such a plant may operate during a major por tion of the year, In both instances tin chamber of commerce assisted In preparing the data for presenta tion to the interested companies, making u survey of the needs and opportunities for a cannery, which surveys have been filed with the interested companies and may prove valuable as the facilities for cannery operations here are ex panded. C-ompIctc Survey Xccdtil In order to fully and efficiently present the case of the Medford area to any prospective Industrial plants, a thorough Industrial sur vey of the community is an abso lute necessity, and plans are at present being perfected for the carrying out of such a survey. The Medford I. Ions club has offered tlv services of Us entire personnel In preparing such a survey, which is a gigantic task, and within the next year It is expected to have on filf- all of the necessary informa tion which might Interest anyone considering Medford as u location for an industrial plant. Along the line of Industrial de velopment It might be well to de vote more attention to the upbuild ing of present Industrial plants wherever possible. it would not seem consistent to Invite the con struction of new plants when the Industries already here might not be in he best condition, and t he first consideration should be to see that all Industrial plants now In existence ure on a sound basis, and then diligently seek new ones.
