Jackson will be the hostesses for this meeting. j The Christian church circle met, at the home of Mrs. Edwin Dunn oti Thursday afternoon. This was railed a dollar social: each ladyj ave a dollar to be added to their circle fund. A large delegation of ' ladies from the church attended this meeting. The Upper Valley Community i club will be represented at the State Federation of Women's clubs hd nt Medford on Friday and Sat urday of this week. Mrs. W. O. Tucker, secretary-treasurer of the club will give a report of what Itellvlew club women are doing. Mrs. Kdwin Dunn and Mrs. A. R. Kincaid nre delegates from the club. They will be gone until about November. l.i', tie Lois Yost, who last spring suffered terrible burns when their home burned and her mother. Mrs. Hay Yost, was ulsn burned so bad ly that she never recovered from the effects of It, is now making her home with her ister-ln-law. Mrs. Cleorge Drake. In east Kden. Mrs. M. Uose came up from Med ford last Sunday even ins for a sort visit with lu-r daughter. Mrs. l,eta Furry, but returned with h,er sister, Mrs. J.ofland. to remain this week. The little note in the Kden pre cinct items last week in regard to growers wishing to know jtihi what the canneries were going to do In regard to vegetables and fruit, was answered Saturday morning in per son by ltalph Koozer of the Ash land cemetery. Mr. K ouster came down to Interview growers and to get more acreage of tomatoes and othar vegetables. Mr. Koozer, while at the Carey plant farm, secures all the tomato plants for his growers that they had. Mr. Dora n and son. who are cul tivating the Hev. Temple's Utile place, as well ns their own. are Helping out about 3.U00 cabbage plants besides an acre or more of toma'oes. The land is in North Talent and under dllch. Mr. I.oke is planting a field of tomatoes, and some other small truck on a part of the 1M Hamlin place south of Phoenix. Next Friday evening there will be an entertainment la the way of music and other Interesting num bers, at the new church. The af fair Is sponsored by the Sunday school and Is given to raise money to help pay the pledges of the Sunday school on the buildintr fund. The admission will be 25 cents for grown-ups and 10 cents for children, and 1 0 cents addi tional for Ice cream and cake. New pupils this last week at the North Phoenix school were Mildred Huriison and Isnbel James. Hilly Sheets was out of school on account of illness for a day or two. Mrs. Colver Furry and daugh ters. Carol and June, were Med ford visitors last Saturday from East Eden. Mrs. S. P. Barnehurg was called to Talent last Tuesday to see her mother. Mrs. Jeff Hell, on account of illness. SIS ME HOMEj SAMS VALLEY, April 26. Sunday was 'a beautiful day and brought out hosts of city and countty people to visit the popu lar Hulcomb Mineral Springs. The roads are drying fast and tourists will soon experience no difficulty in reaching the resort. The springs will fall in the hands of the new purchasers by June l. after which much improvement work will be done on the road, as well as grounds surrounding the springs. Mr. Hulcomb. when asked of his intentions, after leaving1 the springs, stated he would spend mu h of his time in Oklahoma at the home of his brother, who Is n retired minister. Since the weather has cleared up again, the farmers are work ing l"ut to get in their crops be fore another rain overtakes them. At the last meeting of the Orange were two members of the new Central Point Orange, who visited our order to gain infor mation on conducting their meet ings. Mr. Anderson, who is the master of the new grange, states they will get ns many charter members on the list as possible before closing to signers. Sams Valley did not have a representa tive In the contest and we feel our girls were not treated fairly, as two of our high school girls have been steadily making an nveiitge of over 60 words and could evidently have been among the high scorers In the county contest. Mr. Semple of Medford was in our district Wednesday and pur chased a fine Jersey milk cow from O. T. Wilson.
