Main street swung open at 7:30
last night, a large crowd was gath
ered along the street awaiting a
chance to get a first glimpse of
the new place of business. They
were greeted by the strains of or
chestra music and cheery smiles
from Manager and Mrs. j. H. Ja
cobs aa they started what seemed
to be an endless procession through
the store.
The attractive merchandise was
artistically arranged In the various
departments and floral tributes
from local merchants smiled their
compliments through the crowd.
The hundreds of women among the
spectators were allowed to try on
coats or hats which struck their
fancy, although Mr. Jacobs an
nounced that the store wouldn't be
open for business until this morning..

The beautiful windows with floors
of black lacquer and back drops of
theatrical gauze, against which col
orful spring bonnets and gay scarfs
were arranged, proved almost too
mucli for the crowd of shoppers
waiting since 8:30 this morning to
enter the store.
At 9 o'clock the doors were
opened by Miss Kavannugh and her
head saleswoman, Mrs. L. C. Oar
lock, and the curious crowd were
given their first glimpse of thn
lovely interior, where Milady's
chapeaux and their lovely surround
ings vied for honors.
Against a background which pre
dominated in green, picture hats
in pinks and yellows flirted saucily
with the colorful haster band
boxes which exhausted every shape. I
size and color Imaginable, and Just
"happened" here and there through
out the store. Small headgear with
scarfs or flowers to match tipped
teaslngly on the top of decorative
pedestals and upon close inspec
tion proved to be either Gage or
the fnmoust Monogram models.
Pink, white and red carnations
were ;iven visitors at the opening
as compliments from the new Btore
which, from all indications, will
prove one of the most popular of

the widespread interest which is
already being taken in the Med
lord convention:
"We made it a point at all
mass meetings and conferences to
tell of tho Medford convention,

played in any convention as I

be held in your good city. The
change from Portland to Medford
has met with a unanimous ap
