The Indies of the Upper Valley Com
munity club met. Tuosday afternoon at
the homo of Mrs. C. A. Drown for
candy making. Some 18 members of
tho club wero present and under the
supervision of the county demonstra
tion agent, Miss Ada Hrewster, .manu
factured a large quantity of candy for
the use of tho club at the Christmas
season and some for individuals.

Churchman of Union street, has re
turned to Ashland from Ileddlng.

Tho high school boys and girls who

gave "Hurry, Hurry, Hurry," are
planning a skating party for Thursday
evening. After the skating there will
be a supper to top off the evening's
fun.

strafes for the Crown Flour company
of I'ortland, has been In Ashland for
the past week, giving demonstrations
of cooking each day In tho room rev
ceiitly vacated by Mrs. Suggs. Al
though this is a busy season Willi

ing the classes for practical ideas ;to
build up the daily menu In food values
and to cut down tho monthly budget.

Tobin Clark, New York society woman,
lost a 110,000 necklace during a tea
at the home of Mrs. William K. Van
derbilt in Fifth avenue, on the after,
