UP FATHER
IS ROBBED, THEN
FIRE iS STARTED
' ROSEIiURO, Ore., Dec. 7. A tail
oring shop owned by J. II. lternler
was iwidly damaged late last night
by a fire started to cover, up a rob
bery. Thieves broke down the rear
door of the building and with an
augur bored holes around the locks
of intervening doors - so that thy
could reach the front part of the
building, where they stole five suits
of clothes and nineteen suit lengths
of bolt goods.
Boxes of trimmings, kindling and
papers were then piled up in two
parts of the frame building nnd n
fire started. Fortunately, however,
the blaze was quickly discovered and
extinguished before nny great, amount
of damage was done. - .
Tracks found in the alley way in
the' rear of tho building indicated
that there had been two automo
biles backed up to the shop. A few
minutes before the fire two cars
were seen to come out of the alloy
way and go south at a rapid rate of!
speed. ' .
Officers are today Investigating aj
report that two men stopped at .a
roadside stand yesterday and en-1
deavored to sell suit goods. It is
possible. Sheriff Starmer says, that
Mho theft and fire were the work of
'ihievi'H who hnvtrr hTOnT" committing
j a series of llko- crimes. .;
