The expenses of running the schools next year will be much greater than tho cost ot operation last year. Based on the present budget which the voters are asked to approve at tills afternoon's election, the school tax foq next year will he 29 tulles, whereas last year's tax was 20.2 mills. The total operation expense for next year will he about f2.t9.000, whereas the receipts will be only about J70.0OO. leaving about J16S.00O which must lie raised by taxation. This in an in crease over last year's cost of opera tion of about 78,000, ot which about 152,000 will be needed to pay on bond debts and increased expenses. Of this sum. $18,000 will have to be paid out on tho new high school bond tissue and Interest, J15.000 on old bond issues and $15,000 to pay warrants issued years ago and due next year. Then. too. there will be six schools to.be operated next year instead of! live, because ot the present nigh school being used as a junior high school, and there will be an addition of 18 new teachers, four In the high school and 12 in the grades. The situation causing the increased erpenses is aet forth on the printed ballots belnR. used at today's election, In part as follows: "1 Shall the school tax for the School District No. 49. Jackson county, Oregon, for the fiscal year beginning June 15. 1926 and ending the third Monday In June. 1927, be increased above the con stitutional limitation ot C per cent -In order to meet the increased financial requirements of the dis trict as set forth In the published budget for the said fiscal year? "This increase is necessary for the following reasons: "a Payment of bonds and in terest on same voted for new high school. "b An increased number of teachers, necessary for new high . school, junior high school, and to relieve erowded condition in the grade schools. "c. Additional running expense on account of additional building. "d Payment of $15,000 In war rants, issued ten years ago and falling' duo this year." CAN'T BE FOUND ST. I'.U'U Nov. 17?
