The RKue River Calf club fool pretty Kood ovor their winnlgH at tho county fair. They won two first, throo sec onds and two third ribbons, Hurwell O'Kelly. won first on his calf and second on showmanship and enough other points so he won a trip to the state fair at Salem. Lloyd Beers of Evans Valley Is staying with. his aunt in Medford this winter and attending school there. Wo are sorry to report that Fred Mluthorne of Kvuns Valley Im very ill and was moved to Grants I'uss last Saturday so as to be close to a doc tor, ills friends all hope for his speedy recovery. Bill Thompson is currying his arm fn a Hllng now on acount of being kicked with his car while cranking it. Mr. Thompson's arm was broken and 1 while getting along fino it Is very sore and painful. Walter Jones reports that the cli mate of southern California Is bene fitting his wife's health very much and that she plans now to upend tho wintor with her sister in Ios Anyoles. Clinton "Wiley returned Sunday to McCloud, Calif., after soveral days' visit with his parents and other rela tives. Clinton has recently bought him a new Star coupo. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Summons of Florida have been paying a visit to Mr. Simmons neice, Mrs. Beside Iturk hart. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons travel much of tho tlnio, ho have a very nice Ford house. Fred O'Kelly was a business vUltor at Ashland Tuesday. Heed Carter made a trip to Murphy Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. William Auld from Kansas ,CIty, Mo., are visiting Mr. Auld's'aunt, Mrs. Martha Seaman. Mr. and Mrs. Auld exoit to spend several weeks visiting on tho coast. Mr.and Mrs. Bill Whlto and Billy Mooro have been over from Worden visiting a few days with their par ents. Wo are glad to report that Fred Horton is able to bo on the stroets once more. Fred says ho feels fine only a llttlo weak yet, Clinton Wiley and Mrs. M. R. Bliss viwlted at the homo of Mrs. Delia. Dodge at Medford ono day last week. , Albert Van Gootham is at Portland visiting his Bister, Edna Gallinett. Grant Wolter has returned to spend tho winter here. Mr. Wolter has heen In eastern Oregon most the summer. Mrs. Bob (hiunnett has returned from the logging ramp ho to send tho children to school. Mrs. Overton hus recently built on a front porch and had her house painted, making a . great improve ment. Many from hero attended the fair and all claimed it to be very good In every way. Mr.and Mrs. Alfred Bellman of San Francisco returned home after a visit of a week with Mrs. Bellman's broth er and wife, Mr. und Mrs. Reed Car ter. Mrs. Fred O'Kelly was a Grants Pass caller Tuesday. Friends In Rokuo Hiver received a visit from Mrs. William Lee Gray and daughter of Albany last week. Hev. Gray was also visiting In Rogue River from Butte Falls. The first fall meeting of tho Wil low Springs Thursday club will bo on October 1 at two o'clock at the homo of Mrs. J. W. Blrkholz. Mrs. Wlthington and Mrs. Sparrow will havo charge of tho program. Tho hostess takes this way of extending an invitation to every membor. Mrs. Sam Anderson and Miss Rose Jones entertained tho ladies mission ary society of Central Point, on Thursday of this week. The ladies met as usual In the basement of tho church. Lloyd ' Anderson, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sain Anderson, who graduated from the Central Point high school last spring, is a student at the U. of O. this year. Ho left htiro on the 18th and motored up to Eugene with friends. Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Rammona of Chicago, III., aro houses guests at the W. K. Turker home. They have been visiting alt points of interest In the Pacific northwest and will return homo by the southern route.
