Miss TwIHa Rader spent the week end at the Don Nawbury home on the Applegatc. where she had a most en joyable time - Mrs. Louis Allen has a girl taking care of her two children while she is packing at Mcdford. Heam, which ho takes each August. W. J. Bowman and family ami Mrs. Bowman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Maine, of Portland Ore., left Tal ent last Thursday for o trip to Los Angeles and other southern cities. Mr. Bowman is on his vacation, and has his son Ralph carrying tho mull dur ing his absence. The Phoenix schools will open Tues day, September 1st. There h ts been a very satisfactory corps of teachers engaged, witii every prospect of n largo attendance. All the empty houses are now full In tho town. Fred Furry left his homo In Phoe nix last Thursday with a fine new row boat for Lake o fthe Woods, and will spend a mouth among tho hills and on the lake and the huckleberry woods. There Is one of the wayside markets in operation on the highway, that of Mr. Miller. It is one of the neatest yet erected, and is a very busy one. It is deplorable to know that any one has to npply to tho authorities, these days for protection of his melon fields. This Is the case, nevertheless, and the same has been grunted to the growers In this vicinity. Lights have been placed In tho Morfrson garden, just south of Phoenix, so that tres passers, may be plainly seen. . - Mrs. MeMorrlck of San Diego, Cal has como to make her home with her son, Charles, who lives up Foots Creek.
