The Jaeksiin County Heaitn association met on Friday, June 12th at the home of Ihe'.MIsses Carlton, west of town, a large number of the mem bers being present. Tho main fea ture of the day was the talk by Miss Marie Fnldine of Alaska. MIhs Faldine will be ravorably re membered as the first Jackson coun ty nurse who ever held that posi tion. For the past two or three years, however, she has been n pub lic health nurse in Alaska, and was sent by the governor of lliat coun try to Washington, D. C us t ho Alaskan representative at the Na tional Public Health congress. On her way back to the northland. Miss Fitldiue stopped off here and was asked to spea It before the meeting of the association by Miss .Mildred Carlton, president. After a fine banquet in her honor, M iss ' Faldine told of her Alaska work ; hard, unceasing fight against disease and unsanitary conditions. In many cases she found herself tho only person in a huge village who has any Idea of caring for the sick, fighting "flu" or of sanitation, and in ail cases one physician lias to cover several villages.
