GAMP The-preparation won at Crater; National park Is going rapidly for-1 ward for the visit of the big caravan bearing the Oregon National Ouurd to the park next Saturday, stated Super intendent L CJ. Thomson on his re turn to the city from the park last night with Iirlgadtei Clcnernl George A. White and staff who spent yester day there inspecting sites at which the guardsmen will bivouac Saturday night. , The large gang of workmen clear ing the road of the deep packed snow between the Med ford em ranee and j government camp were last evening within a mile of government camp. Although Superintendent Thomson did not so state it is about a fifty-fifty proposition that government camp will bo reached by the snow removing gang by Saturday forenoon. I A complete telephone service was established last night between Mod ford and the lodge, also with various phono, stations all along tho route be tween Prospect and Anna Spring camp, so that the long soldier auto caravan will be kept In touch with its various parts and also the outside world, during tho trip. Superinten dent Thomson leaves early this even ing on a return trip to the park. It has not yet been definitely an nounced as to Just where the auto caravan will camp Saturday night on the return trip from the lake, but it will either be at Silver camp or Union creek. Tho national guardsmen in addition to tho novelty of visiting Crater Na tional park, still in its winter mantle of snow, and mitrehing probably a mile or more from government camp over tho deep khow to the rim of the lake nt the lodgo. may also enjoy a spectacle of wild life, as the bears are already out in the park, more numer ous and earlier than usual at this time of year, and numerous deer arc also seen in the park. In fact one largo buck on the re turn trip of the military party from the lake hist evening nearly ran into tho n ut ok near Anna Spring camp. And again the alibi failed I ATE again I For the third time this week she has bad to keeo dinner hot so long that it isn't it to eat.
