(By the Associated Press.) Two . suits for nearly $14,000,000 Involving more than a million and a half acres of land alleged to have been erroneously taken over by the government were filed In tne court ol claims yesterday by tho Klamath and Modoc tribes and Yahoo akin bands of Snake Indians In Oregon and California. In one suit the Indians ask SS.047,- 629, alleged to be due them for 1,500. 000 acres which they claim was er roneously excluded from tholr posses sion through errors and inaccuracies In the treaty of 1864 under which they ceded to the government certain lands in the two states and reserved a speci fied tract for ft reservation. The second ' suit grew out of the granting; to Oregon by the govern ment of certain alternate sections of public lands for the construction of a military - wagon road which, when built, passed- through teh Indians' re servation for a distance of approxi mately 100 relies- is charged in the suit that 112,000 acres of their lands were erroneously patented to the Ore gon Central Wagon Road company, which built the road, and that the secretary of Interior later exchanged this tract for 87,000 acres or unallotted lands within the reservation. The petition alleges that the 87,000 acres were covered with timber and were worth 16,000.000.
