Now that a mausoleum In tlie I. O.
O. P. cemetery adjoining this city Ik
assured. It has been deemed a matter
of sufficient importance, not only to
all Oddfellows, but the people of Med
ford In genoral, to warrant a dedica
tory program in which the public will
take considerable Interest. At
meeting of the Medford lodge Tuesday
evening a committee was appointed
to map out a program which. If carried
to' a successful conclusion will make
the services an event nf some note,
The grand lodge 1. O. O. F. of Ore
gon will meet in Auhlund May 18 for
n four days' session. The tentative
plan Is to invite the grand lodge off I-
rials to participate in the ceremonies
and have the grand master lay tho
corner stone. Appropriate services
will be arranged, including music and
a short address by some noted
speaker. Members of the Canton
branch of tho order, which includes
all the lodges in Jackson county,
dressed In their striking uniforms, will
act as the body escort.
The Ashland lodge has charge of all
arrangements for the reception and
entertainment of the grand lodge
members, and has expressed a will
lugness to make provision for the
Journey of those members -to Medford
which, if the proposed plans are
adopted, will be on the afternoon of
May 20, about 4:30 o clock, or I in
mediately aftor the adjournment of
the session fur that day. The delega
tion will bo taken by auto to Medford
and at the conclusion of the services
returned ,to Ashlund In time for a big
banquet In the evening.
As It will require a great many autos
to transport the grand lodge members
to and from Medford, It Is probable
the chamber of commerco and other
civic bodies of Ashland and Medford
will he Invited to co-operate In fur
nishing transportation. The local
committee will probably know defin
itely In a week or bo whother the
contemplated program may material
ize and further detuilB will be an
nounced later. ,

Leon Von Hlndenburg Leonard, one
of the younger of the famous Leonard
brothers, world war patriots, ran

cop, and was fined $10 In the unnie
court yesterday for speeding.
McMahon was responsible nlso for
the arrests of Bolton Meadows and
W. R. Staff, who wero flnod in Judge
Taylor's court Tuesday, the latter i0
for failure to dim his lights and tho

brakes on his car.

noon the baseball team plays their
second game swlth the Grants Pass
nine on the hater's field. The first
game was won by the locals with
u 8-1 score and they are favored
to repeat the performance at the
northerners diamond. Hchoenl, win
ning pitcher in last Friday's game,
will probably work again and should
take the blue and white into camp
Hubler, second baseman, has been
put on the ineligible list and Coach
Calllson has been trying out Boise
on 'that bag for -tho coming game.
The senior play is to be given Fri
day evening and on Saturday the
Klamath Falls baseball team mcflts
that of Medford at the Holly street
park. The first two games of the
season were scheduled with this
team, but rain and wet grounds pre
vented the playing of either the one
here or the contest on their field.
At (irants 1'ass the game is to
start at 3:30 in the afternoon while
tho Klamath Falls contest starts at
2:30on Saturday. .

, Alburtus. the "Miracle Man," ap

week In mental feats, drove an auto
mobile blidfotded through the streets
this noon, mingling with the traffic,
and stopping and turning. A commit
tee composed of the following local
women rode with Alburtus: Mrs. tt.
Chandler Egan, Mrs. Harry Andrews,
Mrs. F. G. Klienagger and Miss
Prouty. ,
Alburtus drove the car, he explain
ed, before- starting, by reading the
minds. of his passengers, and requested
them to concentrate on what they
wanted him to do. This instruction
waR followed out to the letter. Albur
tus demonstrated his skill, by giving
a young man on a bicycle a wide berth,
who was gawking at him. He also
turned a corner three times, wending
his way in and out of traffic.
A large crowd witnessed tho per
formance, and the committee was en
thusiastic about the success of the
ride.
FRANK & KING PLAY
SCORES HIT IN TENT
A largo crowd enjoyed the com
edy-drama, "Ole of the Movies,' one
of Frank & King's inimitable Ole
plays at the tent theatre on the
corner of Fourth and Fir streets last
night. It was the first showing this
season in the tent and the turn-out
of southern Oregon people was grat
ifying to the Frank & King company.
And those ; who . attended received
tholr money's worth of good entertainment.

PEOPLE WARNED
The police again give out warning
to residents of Medford, especially the
women folks, not only to lock up their
doors and windows tightly on leafing
during the day, but to ask neighbors
to keep a watcb on the bouse, as day
light burglars have been working in
the city this week.
Monday afternoon the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Al Haljen, 104 South Oak
dale, was entered and $200 worth of
jewelry stolen during the absence of
Mrs. Hagen. The same afternoon the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Noth on
North Holly street was entered and
ransacked during the absence of Mrs.
Noth, but no valuables were taken,
according to the police report.
Both houses were entered in the
same manner, by jimmying a window.
