The 11th annual Jackson county
school track and field meet will bv
j held at the fairgrounds Saturday,
and under the direction of John
j Hetson, will last all day. Ten rural
'and ten town schools will be entered
xin the contests und in the ne!i:hbor
jhood of 200 boys and girls will participate.
I The towns represented and their
school colors, are as follows: Apple
gate, green; Butte Falls, black; Cen
tral I'oint. red; Gold Hill, white
Jacksonville, pink; Phoenix, blue
Prospect, brown; Rogue Kiver, yel
low; Sams Valley, grey; Talent,
orange and Eaglo Point, purple.
The events are divided, into three
classes, for boys and girls. "A
class is for boys and girls 12 years
old or under: "IV class for boys
yanU girls 13 to 15 years of age:
C ' class, boys and girls, 16 to 21
years of age.
The events aro as follows: Play
ground baseball and volley ball
games, CO-yard dash, 100-yard danh,
120 yard hurdlo, polo vault, 8 0-yard
hurdle, throwing baseball, running
high Jump, hop, skip and jump, po
tato sack race, chinning, 220-yard
dash, 880-yard run, shot put, discus
throw and javelin throw, 440-yard
relay race, 220-yard relay race.
The chief trophy is a cup given
by the Jackson County Athletic as
sociation, to he won the first time
this year. The Olympic cup, con
tested for hy the teams lust year,
passed into the possession of Cen
tral Pomt, they having won it three
times.

SEATTLE, April 23. China Is
.being Invaded by hundreds of Rus
sians who are taking out Chinese
citizenship papers, today declared
Rev. Daniel McGilllcuddy. Catholiu
missionary from Kanchow, Province
of Klangsl, who arrived here yes
terday on the steamship president
Madison from Shanghai.
"I believe that this Invasion is
for the purpose of. aggrandizement
and other nations should watch this
movement to protect their interests
in China," said Father McGilllcuddy.
The missionary was nccompanied
hy Rev. E. T. Sheean. director of a
Catholic mission inn the district of
Jaochow. Hoth are to visit Phila
delphia and hen return to their
stations In China.
W.H. GORE SUES 100
A suit was filed in the circuit
colirt Thursday by W. 11. Gore of
this city against George nnd Carl
Majrrieter, sawmill operators of the
Appleguto district, for 5S06.C7. Gore
charges that tho Magrieters, without
his knowledge or consent, cut U3.
721 feet of pine and 11,818 feet of
fir timber owned by him. Ho seeks
the recovery of tho value of the
timber at tho market price. The
alleged trespass is listed has having
occurred between June, 1SI23, and
October, 1024.
Local military authorities aro In
tho market to rent CO horses, to bo
used by officers during the. state
encampment, to be held hero in
June. The horses are to be ridden
by officers on parade and Inspec
tion occasions. A dollar a day will
be paid the owners,, and the horses
given all the oats and hay they can
eat, besides , a good currying three
times a 'Jay, per military regulations.
The horses will ho needed between
June 12 and 2G, and anyone having
a horse to rent, will please notify
Captain Ralph Cowgill.
