BY GOV. PIERCE AME PREMIUM Tonight the Medford armory will surely vibrate to strains of hynotlc music. Every soul is touched in some way by some particular rhythm or harmony. It will be- there tonight Jn a delightfully varied program. It Is said that artists work best under inspiration. The members of Crater Lake Temple Band (D. O. K. K.) are all keyed up to do their best, feeling the urge of a great civic purpose. They are to take the message of Crater Lake back east and have unselfishly dedicated them selves to public service, of a high order. This Is nn excellent musical organ ization and is well worth hearing at vnny time under most ordinary cir ' cumstances. But tonight, of all nights, when they match their time and talents against the financial sup port of the entire community they will be inspired to perform in a way that will be long remembered by those who crowd the new armory. Then will follow a community dance which promises to be a very fitting climax to what hns gone be fore. Introducers will take particu lar pains to make everybody ac quainted with everybody else so that those who like to step out to tho atralns of mellow mimic will have every opportunity to fill their pro-1 gram. Crater Lake National Park means much to southern Oregon. It has the real tourist values hut It must be advertised, if our stores, our ga rages, our hotels, our banks and business houses in general are to gain any real benefit from the thous- 1 ands of visitors who may be induced to come. Rogue River Bridge at Gold Hill to Be Constructed A letter from the state highway en gineer's office in Portland says the new bridge to be built across the P.ogue at Gold Hill will be of the same type as the Hocky Point brldgo below Gold Hill and will be just be low the railroad bridge and that un less present plans fail to "materialize they will take bids for construction June 1st. This bridge is greatly needed nnd when completed the small stretch of pavement will be put in and the high way will be completed throughout. Shipping Board Takes Action. WASHINGTON, April 15. The shipping board today formally asked the supreme court of the District of Columbia to dismiss the proceedings whereby the Pacific Mail company seeks to prevent consummation of the sale of five President type ships to the Dollar Interests Frank & King Will Return to Medford Frank and King, comedians, who were here several months ago, will return to Medford, opening in the Armory Sunday night, April 19th, with a new repetolre, a good orchestra and the same company with one ex ception, Bert Wilcox, who is touring the Orpheum circuit. Tho opening bill is "Father Steps Out," and is said to be a comedy full of laughs. Airplane Superior to Artillery SAN ANTONIO, April 15 The San Antonio Express says an airplane ma chine gun and bombing attack was more successful in silencing an enemy battery than was the fire of artillery In a test at Camp Bullis, to determine which Is the quicker method. SALEM, Ore., April 15. Alex nnd Harry Goldstein, brothers, who are under sentence in the state peniten tiary are expected to return to the prison today after having been allow ed by Governor Pierco to spend the Jewish passu ver week at their homes In Portland. The two were sentenced to serve two and a half years In the penitentiary for receiving stolen goods In Portland. Harry Goldstein was given a day's leave of absence about two weeks ago so that he might at tend the christening of a newly ar rived babe at his home in Portland. Governor Pierce explained today that while the Goldsteins and their friends have guaranteed that the two will return to the Btnte prison, the re-, lease for tho week is on his own re sponsibility. The governor said the attorney general had ruled that the state executive has authority to grant such leaves of absence and that It is in the nature of a reprieve. Stanley, who erected a new building and opened a storo in Eugene Monday, whore everything to eat and many household necessities may be purchased had a 16 page ad vertlsting section, 128 columns, in the Eugene Guard Saturday evening, which Is claimed to be the largest sln ple newspaper advertisement ever pub lished In Oregon. Incorporated In the 16 pages were the advertisements of 21 national advertisers whose goods Mr. Stanley sells. There were 36 other pages In the Guard of that day, making 52 pages in all and there were 13,700 copies is sued and mailed to regular subscribers and others in the trading area. Minis ter Jay nt Bucharest has presented a communication to the Roumanian government calling attention to tho fact that that government has ne gotiated debt refunding agreements with other nations, but hos taken no such action with its debt to tho United States. Eleven bids were submitted ranging from par thirty to (103.12, the latter belli the bid of the suc cessful bond buyers. Blyth Witter and company of Portland and Harris Trust and Savings bank of San Fran cisco were ckrtje to tho high figure', making offers of $102.76 and $102.72. He paid a high tribute to the members of the Medford .school board and said he found them to be far better Informed regarding the local school situation than most boards In the state. .
