At the dose of the Easter ser
vice Sunday morning, Kuv. K. It.
l,cnch tendered his resignation as
pastor of the First Baptist church
of this city. The announcement
came us a complete surprise to the
largo audience present, us no one

Mr. Jjew-h had any thought of leav
ing Meilfortl.
After some discussion, many mem
bers, expressing their appreciation
of itev. lunch's ahllltles and of his
work here and further their great
regrot ut tho thought of parting with
their pastor, tho chunh voted not
to accept the resignation.
While this was flattering to the
pastor he urged reconsideration that
his work here June 1. The best
wishes of the church and tho many
friends uf the familyQgo with them.

tions to the church. The church has

been greatly 'strengthened in ol her
ways. A new and modern house has
boon built and their property now
has a value nf JtiO.ono. It is now
tho best church building In ihe de
nomination In Oregon outside of
Portland. Kev. Lenrh has built up
to this strong position front an in
ferior and almost chaotic situation.
He has proven himself an efficient
pastor and capable organizer and
executive and now holds a lending
position In the denomination of tho
northwest.
Mrs. Leach has been a splendid
co-worker, being a lender in the
woman's work, superintendent of tho
primary department of the Sunday
school and active in all phases of
the work of the church.

PRESBYTERY MEETS
AT KLAMATH FALLS
Tho Presbytery of southern Oregon
mectH on Tuesday night In the Pres
byterian church at Klamath Kails,
lasting over Wednesday. Two popu
lar meetings will be held, one on the
opening night Tuesday when Hev. It,
U. Nelson, minister of the Presby
terian church at Phoenix will preach
the opening sermon. On Wednesday
night there will be .messages on the
Christian Education, itev. L P. Law
rence oT .Medl'ord will report for the
work of hntlonul missions of which
he has charge In southern Oregon.
Hev. Arthur Hice of Klaniuth Falls Is
retiring moderator. His successor will
be elected at this meeting.

P. W. Kpllver will attend from tho
Med ford church, and Hev. H. W.
Nelson and Walter Frazer Hrown and
Mr. Webster from the Phoenix
church.
