Interesting things rn hniinnnlnir In tl.n .wi r,t..t.. el ub work. On Thursday tho car was hipped which carried the fine prize nimals to the stato fair. Jackson sitl Josephine counties shipped their animals together, filling a car. Those In this community who are making entries are Richard Joy and John Billings, members of the Calf club, El lis Rose, Merrill nose and Ilk-hard - Joy, who alll exhibit rabbits. County Agent Claude Cate leaves on Punday, taking with him to the State fair Adena Joy and Ellen Galey, niem- -'bers of the canning club and Hnrnard Joy, John Hillings and Hichnrd Joy who are membens of the stock Judging- team. These boys and girls are gent to the fair with all expenses paid. Miss Annette Wetherford siiikmvIs pr of tho Model Cottage is enjoying a visit from her parents who are here from Corvnllis for a short stay. Mr. Weatherford Is attending to business In Southern Oregon. Marvin Shaw, son of Dr. Mnttie shaw, who was seriously sick at Mnrshfield during the summor, has re-, covered and returned to Ashland. Mar gin has entered tho high school. Miss Hornice Yeo and Miss Caroline Tilton are leaving today for Kugene hore they will enter the university. )Miss Yeo has been spending the sum pier at Crater Lake where she has teen employed as an entertainer, j Constitution Day was recognized at the high school by a splendid pro- . gram given before the student body on Thursday morning. Miss llernice Yeo played three fine piano selections and Superintendent Hrisco gave an ad dress on the history and powers of the constitution.- Mr. Hriscoe urged the support of the constitution saying that tho time has come when we must re spect and guard it if our institutions are to endure. Mrs. Henry C. Galey spent Wednes day in Jacksonville collecting data re lating to the early history of tho Ash land schools to be used In a write-up which with the histories ot other schools Is to be printed In a county newspaper at an early datrt 1 A,tsa KVinrwa Pi-nfor Knffliull tn.-irll. er at the high school, is ill and con fined to her room at the Dickey home on tho Boulevard. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Dodge leave Fri day night on a tqn days' business trip to Portland. Candidates for city offices are being filed at the City Hall. Miss Gertrude liledo is running again for recorder. She has served in that capacity for a long time, having first been connected with the office as assistant and Inter having full charge of the work. No other candidate has filed for the of fice. Petitions have been tiled for O. H. Johnson and C. H. Pierce for mayor. There appear to be no other candi dates for that office In the field. Mr. Jqhuson served the city as mayor sev eral years ago and Mr. Pierce has been acting mayor since the death of Mayor Loomls. Mr. G. G. Eubanks, who has served the city for many years as treasurer, will probably have no opposition for that office. Pioneer Doys' clubs are being organ ized In tho different churches among the boys of Junior high age. These boys have leaders in their own churches and besides have the general supervision of Mr. Howell, the Y. M. C. A. worker for boys. The Civic club held a meeting on Tuesday at the Civic Club house which proved to be an afternoon of rare Interest to those who wero able PERL FUNERAL HOME At Your 8 rv lea Day or Night Information Cordially Given Cor. 6th and Oakdale Ambulate Servtea Phona 47 to attend. Mrs. Stanley Robinette, In be half of the County Health association, gave a comprehensive talk on the work of the national organization and the wide spreading results as we see them here in the work of the local commu nity. Mrs. Delia nioggett of Chicago, who has been spending some time in Ash- I land as the guest of Miss lllanch Hicks, was also a seaker and revlew'ed in the most interesting fashion the growth of the work carried on by wo men's clubs. Mrs. Illodgutt bus had a wealth of exiierionce in Parent Teacher work and gave a very valu able survey, The social hour was handled by the hostesses of the day, Mesdames Pro vost, Goflauer and Grnell, who served tea to their guests.
