a hospital and thought it best to re
main indoors for a while. Her many

Miles Conley of Lake Creek was
among the business callers Friday.
Fred Fridlgar of Medford who owns
a' fine pear orchard was out here Fri
day looking after his fruit trees and
rtilled at the Sunnyside for supper and
to attend to other buslnens. Ho re
ports that he has done very well with

day last week I noticed that some one
was building an addition to his resi
dence and making inquiry as to who
it was of F. J. Ayres, a neighbor,
learned that it was Italelgh Mathovs
putting quite an addition to his hoiM.
M. fc. Wood, about the only old
veteran of the Civil War wo havo left,
who lost his wife a short time ugo
and is now living alone met mo and
gave mo his subscription for the Daily
Mail Tribune so that he Van have the
news. His son Walter Wood who is
one of our prominent stockmen, and
his friends aro trying to persuade him
to close up his business and go to the
Hoseburg Soldiers Hume, , but he
seems determined to stay at his home
and manage to get along the best he
can, but if some one does not take
oare of him he is liablo to meet with
some accident, or is liable to have a
fire and burn himself nnd his house,
as well as his neighbors out for he is
almost helpless being in the neighbor
'hood of ninety yearB of age.
I also met J. u. Robinson, another
ono of our aged men, but not so old
but what he can drivo a horse and
buggy, Uut ho has practically retired
from farming and turned tho most of
the business over to his boys, but does
