WASHINGTON', March 12. Revis
ion of the revenue bill passed by tho
house must be made to prevent a
treasury deficit, Secretary Mellon to
day told the senate finance commit
tee. The bouse bill would ninen a loss In
revenue of about $450,000,000, Mr. Mel
lon said, against an estimuted surplus
or 1395,000,000 for the fiscal year 1!25
under existing law.
The secretary condemned the I.oiig
wortb compromise on the Income tax
rate schedule and criticized house
amendments which increased estate
taxes, created a gift tax and opened
tax returns to Inspection by congres
sional commltees.
Some modifications would be need
ed also, he added, in the Increases or
