' RIP VAN VK TAKE REVENGE ON T OF PEN One of the pathetic features of the M-fl ford-Ash In na basketball game, Friday night, which served to dampen the joy of AleUforU'a brilliant victory, was the siaht of. the drama .beiny enacted in tho "Hip Van Winkle" cor ner, it seema that liomeo Kop'pes had. In his exeesa of zeal, launched a wild tirade or abuae against a dia tinguished gtttherini? of "Medford boosters," who 'etinsistently - sacrifice their voices in behalf of tho Medford team. Koppes accuaed thia bunch of being ' "Kip Van .WinkleV and even staled that they cheered the wronf! nlde. The veracity of Koppea up to thhf time haa never been doubted by thoae who: know him and even now many people aro purchasing-, unit to take with the expected tirade he .will launch againat the "perpetrators- of the cowardly act." Kop was warned by many friends Jiiat before tho. game but. in spite, of all, he sneaked into the armory and was swallowed: up. In the melting pot of fans. . So Insignificant did he be come that a vigilant search by. the police , and high school . authorities could not even find a thumb print of him. -. liot Mike Jacohs came into the breach and busted his magaphone paging auid Romeo Koppes. ' ' Oh, the pity of it! Kop bit! With fearful glances, backward ho anucli out to the office. So atmid was he that he failed to-watch his step and when he arrived at the office, four of the Bill Coleman ' bunch pounced upon him. i Shamefully he hung his head, nil tho old pc). and spriglitllnoss gone and was walked across tho floor atrufght to the very front row of "Itl4i Van Winkle's corner." Many were the cheers and Jeers that greeted that fallen Idol of the press and, ns ho made his bow to the assembled multitude which he did by the for cible uid of three of tho f'oleinan-Warntr-Taylor faction he was recog nized to be the most typical Winkle of them all.
