When he (j"es down he will go down with the flag nailed to the mast and every gun firing. That's the way Daugherty was built. He fought his way up in life, ho will fight his way down. Right or wrong no one is going to tread on the tail of Harry Alicajab Daugherfy 's coat and get away with it. He may be downed, but he will never quit. One cannot hut admire the fighting spirit of the man. And no one can deny that as far as the present oil investigation is concerned, they have proved nothing, as yet. The charges now offered, are not oil charges. They have to do with other delinquencies in his depart ment, similar to charges previously made and as far as we know, never substantiated. .'' Nevertheless Daugherty should go. Not because of his complicity in the oH scandal, but because he is not fitted by character for the 'position Ire occupies. His moral perceptions are too dull, his sense of public responsibility too low to engage the respect and confidence, which the people of the country should have in the head of the legal department of the United States. If Attorney General Daugherty persists in his refusal' to resign, he should be requested to do so. President Coolidge is entitled to have an attorney general of his own stamp and his ovvVi school. Physiology is still tho most unpopu lar of all branches of knowledge that pertain to human welfare. In a recent talk about some minor skin trouble I took occasion to sneak in a dash of physiology, by asserting in untly mat no medicine, food, nutri ent, substance or chemical Is absorb ed by the unbroken sklh. Oh, any man may licensed be to drive a deadly wain, though he is deaf and cannot see, and isn't strictly sane. Numerous correspondents who . brush aside the rules and ask for ad vice about individual cases become confidential along about the third page and tell me that they have con sulted a well known . physician who thought, said or did so and so. Answer A well known - physician by the name of Cook was sentenced to a long term In prison recently. But probably he is not the ono all theBe correspondents refer to. Grapefruit. Is grapefruit healthy? If bo. In what way? Is it true that it makes one thin? L. B Answer Yes. if you like the flavor. The critic acid of grapefruit, lemons, oranges, limes and tangerines is oxi dized In the body into carbonates, which render the blood and tissues more alkaline and the urine less acid. These citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamins. They help to di gest other foods. They favor tho function of the eliminating organs. Grapefruit Is healthful if you like the flavor and keep it from Bplashing in your eye. . i i - Dnnilrurf and Poor Hair Growth, What is the condition that causes dandruff and makes tho hair scrawny and poor in growth? I keep my scalp clean by washing It once a month. My daughter, aged 12, also has dandruff. Mrs. M. O. M. Answer For many persons once a month Is often enough to bathe any part of the body, I think, but when there is considerable dandruff, it is generally advisable to have a sham poo about once a week, or when the condition, is oily on greasy, two or three times a week for a while. Send a stamped self-addressed envelope for general instructions on the care of the scalp and treatment of dandruff. I believe the trouble is of bacterial origin and that It is spread by infec tion, through ordinary contact with persons who have it and through the common use of hair brushes and combs. Keeping tho Old Tub In Constant Use In our school we have a health pledgo which requires five baths a week. Mother holds that this is too many' and that they injure health. A. R. Answer I instinctively agree with mother, where grownups are concern-l ed, but maybe it is a very good plan for young persons attending school If they are warm baths, perhaps two throe a week would bo sufficient. If cold oaths, one every morning is fine discipline and training for young folk. - lot THE GREATEST THING tS THE WORLD by Laurel Grav What's to become of uh?
